Saraswathi Srinivasan is one of M L Vasanthakumari's senior-most disciples.
Grand daughter of Thethiyoor Subramania Sastrigal (G N Balasubramaniam's spiritual guru) Saraswathi hails from Madurai. Her grandafther was opposed to the women of the family learning music. After his death, Saraswathi's mother took her to MLV. She was 22 and had not undergone even elementary training in music.
From 1956 to 1966, Saraswathi trained under MLV and accompanied her guru during concerts. Sarsawathi has now trained more than 100 students, including Sudha Raghunathan. Saraswathi now looks forward to teaching more students.
