R.R. Sabha opens its annual fest at Shree Mahal Kalyana Mandapam (A/C), Mandaveli Street (near Mandaveli Post Office), Mandaveli. The inaugural concert this evening features K.J. Yesudas.

R.R. Sabha started in 1929, has submitted its plans for a new arts complex to the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA), and is awaiting approval for demolishing the old hall and constructing the new complex.

Sri Jayendra Saraswathi had performed the bhoomi pooja for the new complex in mid-February this year. Since then, the sabha has discouraged events being held in the present premises. The plans for the new complex are - parking in the basement, air-conditioned auditorium in the ground floor, mini hall, music school and exhibition hall in the first floor. A.K.
