'Rasika Priya' on Doordarshan
Doordarshan Kendra, Chennai is planning to telecast concerts from its archives of music and dance, through a weekly magazine programme, 'Rasikapriya'. The programme is being telecast on Sundays at 8.30 pm on DD1 and Podhigai from October, 2004. Each episode is devoted to a particular artiste. It features snippets from DD's concert recordings, profile and an interview with the artiste.
The series sponsored by RMKV silk store in Chennai has a special promo at the end of the programme, where a designer saree created at the shop is promoted by the artiste.
Bhuvaneshwari Chandrasekaran is the executive producer of 'Rasika Priya'. Six episodes are over so far, commencing with Semmangudi Srinivasier on October 31. The artistes featured include D.K.Pattammal, M.L.Vasanthakumari, Balamurali Krishna, Padma Subrahmanyam.
And there are more to come.
The episode on Dec. 12, features veteran musician D.K. Pattammal.
