An event to felicitate two senior personalities - veteran musician T.Muktha and Tamil scholar Soundara Kailasam was organised by the Coimbatore based Rajalakshmi Fine Arts on Dec. 24. The event at the TAG Centre, opposite Narada Gana Sabha in Alwarpet was well attended by music lovers.
The title of 'Brindhamukthi' was conferred on senior musician Muktha, at her residence, early this year. And a video recording of this event was screened at the function on Dec. 24. The CD 'Soundaryam' comprising compositions of Soundara Kailasam was also released on this occasion.
Rajalakshmi Fine Arts also released several other albums.
Two recordings of Sethalapathy Balasubramaniam in two titles 'Bhakthi' and 'Manodharmam' were released. The family of Sethalapathy Balasubramaniam was present to receive the CDs. "Both these were recorded just weeks before Balasubramaniam passed away" said T. Sathish Kumar, Secretary, Rajalakshmi Fine Arts.
Among the 16 other albums released were 'Sadanandam' by Sowmya, 'Navaragini' by Ravikiran, 'Madrasil Margazhi' by Ranjani-Gayathri and 'Margam' by Bombay Jayashri.
P.R.Gokulakrishnan, Former Chief Justice of High Court of Gujarat, Dr.Avvai Shanmugam, Dr.N.Ramani, Dr.V.V.Srivatsa and V.V.Sundaram were the special invitees.
The event came to an end with a vocal concert by young Sathyaprakash. The new CDs sold like hot cakes.
Many white-haired rasikas were seen crossing the T.T.K. Road to 'Gnanambika' at Narada Gana Sabha's premises for their evening coffee!
