Yakshagana from Mangalore

Yakshagana, a traditional theatre art of coastal Karnataka, will be showcased at Krishna Gana Sabha on Dec. 31 at 7.30 pm.

The show is being presented by Mysore based Sri Lalithakala Academy in collaboration with South Zone Cultural Centre. It will be presented by artistes of Yakshanandana, Mangalore (founded by the late P.V. Aithala, an advocate and politician of Mangalore).

The Yakshanandana troupe features artistes who are doctors, lawyers and professors by profession. And this troupe specialises in rendering the dialogues in English.

The show promises a blend of theatre, dance, music, colourful costumes, elaborate make-up and extempore dialogues too.
