Sathguru Gnanananda Hall in Chennai wore a festive look as the curtains went up on the annual music and dance festival of Kartik Fine Arts on December 1.
And the first two days of the fest featuring concerts by vocalists Priya Sisters and dancer Priyadarshini Govind were houseful shows here.
The sabha's 30th year fest was inaugurated by the former Governor of Orissa, M.M. Rajendran. The title of 'Isai Peroli' was conferred on Carnatic vocalists Priya Sisters - Haripriya and Shanmughapriya and 'Nadanamamani' on dancer Priya Jayaraman.
The 'D.K. Pattammal Award of Excellence' was given to young vocalist Nisha P. Rajagopal and the Kartik Rajagopal Golden Jubilee Award for 'Best Cultural Organiser' was awarded to K.S. Venkataraman, Secretary, Mylapore Fine Arts Club.
Kutcheris will be held at Narada Gana Sabha's main hall, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Dakshinamurthy auditorium (P.S. School), Mylapore, throughout this month.
