Heritage tour of Tanjore
The Sangeetham - Charsur heritage walks enter their fifth year and this time, the organising team plans a tour to Tanjore, the seat of South Indian culture. In the previous years, the walks were held in Mylapore and George Town areas in Chennai.
The Tanjore walk is scheduled for 17, 18 and 19 December, 2004. It covers Brihadeeswara temple, Bangaru Kamakshi temple, Syama Sasytri's house, Muttuswami Dikshitar's place of stay, Tanjore Quartet's house, Prasanna Venkateswara Swami Temple, Varahappayyar lane (where the idols worshipped by Tyagaraja are kept), Abraham Pandither's house, Saraswathi Mahal library, Sangeetha Mahal and Thiruvaiyar.
There are only 30 seats available and the group will leave by bus from Chennai. The rates are US $ 200/person and Rs. 7500/person, including accomodation.
