Fest opens at Vani Mahal

The 24th annual music festival of Sri Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha was inaugurated on Dec. 9 at Vani Mahal, T. Nagar, Chennai.

V. Shankar, President, Sri Shanmukhananda Fine Arts and Sangeetha Sabha, Mumbai inaugurated and S. Radhakrishnan, Director, Marketing, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd., Mumbai presided.

Violin maestro Lalgudi G. Jayaraman conferred the title of 'Vani Kala Sudhakara' on vocalist S. Sowmya, violinist Narmada, mridangist K.R. Ganesh, dancer Urmila Sathyanarayanan and drama artiste S. Ve. Shekar.

The inaugural concert featured Mohiniattam by Karthiyayini.
