Dance-ballet 'Jai Hanuman'
Divyanjali, the school of dance and music in Kalpakkam, south of Chennai, well known for the location of atomic power reactor station, is celebrating its 10th year. As part of the celebrations Divyanjali presented a Bharatanatyam ballet 'Jai Hanuman'.
The base theme for this production is from 'Hanuman Chalisa' of Saint Tulasidas. The dance ballet is centered on Hanuman and includes, his birth, childhood, and depicts various events in Ramayana that speaks of his unflinching devotion and dedication to Lord Rama.
Dance choregraphy and direction of this ballet was by Divyasena, the founder director of Divyanjali. The 75- minute production featured 25 senior and junior students of Divyanjali and Divyasena herself. J. Ramesh provided music for the ballet and B.P. Haribabu the rhythm. The production employs special light effects. The nattuvangam was by Aadith Naryan, vocal by J.Ramesh, mridangam by B. P. Haribau, violin by M. S. Kannan, Flute by G. Nataraj and Veena by Karaikuruchi Balaji. The light and sound was provided by Murugan.
'Jai Hanuman' is being presented at selective sabhas during this season: On 25 December, 5.15 pm at Baratiya Vidya Bhavan under the auspices of Kapali Fine Arts, On 22 January (Thursday) 6.30 pm at Mylapore Fine Arts under the auspices of Sri Parthasarathy Sabha.
