Thematic dance shows

* The Kanaka Sabha Centre for Performing Arts, Mumbai presents 'Buddhavatara' a dance drama tomorrow (Jan. 2) at 7.30 pm at The iNdian Fine Arts Society (German Hall, T. Nagar). This is an Indian - Singaporean-Canadian collaborative dance drama choreographed by Siri Rama of Singapore and the music and lyrics are by Prof. V. Subramaniam of Ottawa.

* Dancer Nina Rajarani presents 'Equilibrium - the dance of the Ayurveda' on Jan. 7, 2004 at The Music Academy's auditorium. This show also tours Trivandrum, Bangalore, DElhi and MUmbai in January followed by a U.K. tour in February.

* Lakshmi Parthasarathy Athreya, a disciple of Chitra Visweswaran presents a thematic Bharatanatyam recital 'Kodai Alwar' at 7:30 pm on Jan. 8, 2004 for Kartik Fine Arts at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Mylapore and at 5:45 pm on Jan.9, 2004 at Narada Gana Sabha. Research guidance for this presentation is by U. Ve Velukudi. V. Krishnan Swamigal and the music composition and rendering is by S. Rajeswari.

* Dancer Jayanthi Subramaniam and students of Kala Darsana present 'Krishna Leela Tarangam' at 6 pm on Jan. 3, at Krishna Gana Sabha and at 6.45 pm on Jan. 5 at Mylapore Fine Arts. They also perform 'Aadhi Ula' based on Thirukailaya Gnana Ula (a 10th C. Tamil literary work of Cheraman Peruman) at 7.30 pm on Jan. 11 at Bharat Kalachar.

* 'Deivega Vahanangal', is a thematic presentation by the disciples of Ranganayaki Jayaraman at 7.15 pm on Jan. 2, at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan for Kapali Fine arts and also at 6.45 pm on Jan.8, at Mylapore Fine Arts. This group also presents 'Maruthi Mahimai' another dance drama. Schedule: Jan. 12 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan for Kartik Fine Arts, Jan 13 - Bharat Kalachar, Jan. 30 - Parthasarathy Swami Sabha.

* Revathi Ramachandran presents 'Ambalathil Aadum Jyothi' a dance drama on Jan. 5 at Krishna Gana Sabha and 'Lakshmi Vaibhavam' on Jan. 10 at Bharat Kalachar.

* Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan presents a Bharatanatyam recital by dancer-actress Vyjyanthimala Bali at 6.30 pm at Jan. 3 and 'Pancharatna Kritis in Dance' at 6.30 pm on Jan. 15 by Rajeswari Sainath, Roja Kannan, Rama Vaidyanathan, Meenakshi Chittaranjan, Radhika Shurajith and Shobana Balachandar.
