Honours for Aruna Sairam
Leading carnatic vocalist Aruna Sairam was presented the award of 'Tamil Isai Vendar' at the inauguration of the Tamil Isai Festival of Kartik Fine Arts yesterday. This was held at the Valliammal College for Women, Anna Nagar.
Earlier, Aruna told KutcheriBuzz, "This year, the season has been really hectic. So far, 'only half the wedding' is over! There's more to go." She added, "Having moved here from Bombay, I'm thankful to the rasikas of Chennai for accepting me into their city."
This season, a concert that she enjoyed most was the one at the 'Margazhi Maha Utsavam' at Chettinad Vidyashram auditorium. Says Aruna, "That venue is something. And here the rasikas interact with us and they ask some interesting questions. This is a place where you become one with the rasikas." Earlier this month, the vocalist also interacted with rasikas at the 'Artiste Chat' session hosted by KutcheriBuzz at Essen Musicals store, Alwarpet. Aruna sings tomorrow at 6 pm at Mylapore Fine Arts.
