Awards

This section lists the names of the awardees for 2003. Take a look at the artistes who are being honoured by the various sabhas in December this year.

Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha

Sri Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha, Vani Mahal will host its 24th annual music festival from December 9 to 31, 2003.

The title of 'Vani Kala Sudhakara' will be conferred on vocalist S. Sowmya, violinist Narmada, mridangist K.R. Ganesh, dancer Urmila Sathyanarayanan and drama artiste S. Ve. Shekar.Contact: J. Krishnama Chary, Secretary, Ph: 2815 7197

Sangita Kalanidhi for T.V. Shankaranarayanan

Carnatic vocalist T. V. Sankaranarayanan has been chosen to receive the Sangita Kalanidhi award from The Music Academy this year. Click here for detail

Honour for Violin M.Chadrasekaran

Violin maestro M. Chandrasekaran will receive 'Sangeetha Kalasarathy Award' at the inaugural day of 103rd December music festival of Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha.
The sabha holds its annual music concert at Vidya Bharathi, 55, Bheema Sena Garden Road, (near Jammi Building) Mylapore, from 16 December 2003 to 1 January 2004.

Rasika Ranjani Sabha
Tanjore Sankara Iyer will receive the 'Kala Rathna Award' this year at the annual music festival conducted by Rasika Ranjani Sabha, a Mylapore, Chennai.
He is also giving a concert at R. R. Sabha on the inaugural day.

Bharat Kalachar announces awardees

Bharat Kalachar has announced its awardees for the December Season 2003. The award function will be held on the inaugural day of the 17th Margazhi Mahotsav on December 12, 2003 at Sri YGP Auditorium, Chennai.

The awards are: 'Viswa Kala Bharathi' for Karaikudi Krishnamurthy (service in the field of fine Arts abroad), 'Kala Seva Bharathi' for dancers Radhika Shurajith and Manjula Lusti Narasimhan and 'Yuva Kala Bharathi' for young talent to Sriram Parthasarathy (vocal), Mahanadhi K.Shobana (classical devotional songs), Mysore A.Chandankumar(flute), Nagai Sriram (violin), Karukaruchi N. Mohanaraman, R.Mohanakrishnan, Rohan Krishnamurthy (mridangam), Ravi Balasubramanian (ghatam), Preethi Vasudevan, Archana Narayanamurthy, Suma Mani (Bharatanatyam).

Mylapore Fine Arts Club

Madurai T.N. SeshagopalanCarnatic vocalist Madurai T.N. Seshagopalan will receive the 'Sangeetha Kala Nipuna' award from The Mylapore Fine Arts Club at the inauguration of the sabha's 52nd year art festival in December this year.

 

Nungambakkam Cultural Academy's awards

Nungambakkam Cultural Academy Trust will hold its annual music festival from December 10, 2003 at the Rama Rao Kala Mantap auditorium. On the inaugural day, the Sironmani awards will be presented to carnatic vocalist K.J. Yesudas, Bharatanatyam dancer Saraswathi and theatre artsite S. Ve. Shekar.

Indian Fine Arts Society

The 71st South Indian Music Conference and festival of The Indian Fine Arts Society will be held from December 17, 2003 to January 4, 2004. On the inaugural day, the title of 'Sangeetha Kalasikhamani' will be conferred on mridangist Guruvayur Dorai and on the concluding day of the fest, the title of 'Natya Kalasikhamani' will be conferred on dance guru Adyar K. Lakshmanan.

 

Narada Gana Sabha

Narada Gana Sabha, will host its annual music festival from December 14, 2003 to January 2, 2004. Arts scholar Kapila Vatsyayan will inaugurate the festival. Dance guru C.V. Chandrasekhar will be conferred the title, 'Nadhabrahmam' and vidwan Vairamangalam Lakshminarayanan with the 'Senior Musician Award'.

 

Krishna Gana Sabha

M.V. Narasimhachari and VasanthalakshmiN.S. JayalakshmiKrishna Gana Sabha will inaugurate its golden jubilee music and dance festival on 12 December 2003. Renowned Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi dance duo, M.V. Narasimhachari and Vasanthalakshmi will receive the 'Swarna Jayanthi Nritya Choodamani' award and dance guru N.S. Jayalakshmi will receive the 'Acharya Choodamani' award.



Kartik Fine Arts

Kartik Fine Arts will inaugurate its annual arts festival on December 1, 2003. The inauguration will be held at Narada Gana Sabha's auditorium, TTK Road, Chennai.

Carnatic vocalist Gayatri Girish will receive the 'Isai Peroli' award (a medal, citation and cash component of Rs. 15, 000), Bharatanatyam dancer Kavita Ramu will receive the 'Nadanamamani' award (the award includes a medallion, Rs.15000/- and citation).

The Tamil Isai Festival will be inaugurated on December 26, 2003 at Valliammal College for Women Silver Jubilee hall, Anna Nagar. The award of 'Tamil Isai Vendar' will be presented to well known carnatic vocalist Aruna Sairam.
