RPG has brought out under its Gramophone label a series of double cassette albums called Classic Carnatic Concerts. One of this series is N. Ramani on the Flute.
The first volume has compositions like the Varnam, Chalamela, by Rangaswami Nattuvanar and goes on to krithis like Terateeyagarada the Gowlipantu composition of Thyagaraja and Patnam Subramanya Iyer's Dhanyudevvado. The Thyagaraja krithi Samajavaragamana pervades side B of this volume and Volume II has a mix ranging from the central piece in this album of Etavunara, a Thyagaraja krithi in Kalyani to Brahmananda Bhajan, a Javali and Thiruppugazh.
The flute maestro is accompanied by Thiruparkadal Veeraraghavan on the Violin, Umayalpuram Sivaraman on the Mridangam adn E. M. Subramaniam on the Ghatam.
The double cassette album is priced at Rs. 100 and is available at all leading shops.
