Sri Ramanavami Music Season starts this weekend in Bengaluru

Ramanavami-music-fest-2018Saturday, April 6 is the festival of Ugadi in Karnataka. And is just the auspicious day to launch a music festival.

Saturday sees the launch of the Big Daddy in Sri Ramanavami music season - by Sree Ramaseva Mandali at the Big Top in Chamarajpet in Bengaluru.

This month-long fest of music is back with a slightly different touch to it.
This year, playback singer S P Balsubramaniam will perform. We are told the music will be light classical but expect SPB to share some great devotional music too.

Also, famed violinist Dr L. Subramaniam will be seen performing alongside a Western classical musician, we hear.

The new touch to the fest comes from the younger band of core team members of the Mandali.

On the opening evening, April 6 Bombay Jayashri is to be honoured with an award; she sings later.

All the top artistes and many from Karnataka are featured here. The concerts are ticketed.

Elsewhere in Bengaluru, Vani Kala Kendra also launches its festival, with the Mysore brother-violinists on stage.

It is a long fest here, best suited for Basaveshwara Nagar rasikas in this part of Bengaluru.

Down the month, other festivals for the Sri Ramanavami Season will unfold. In Koramangala and in Malleswaram, in Raja Rajeswari Nagar and Sriramapuram, in Jaya Nagar and elsewhere.
