Yagnaraman Music Fest in Chennai gets some zing

The annual Yagnaraman July Fest, hosted by Yagnaraman Centre for Performing Arts and Sri Krishna Sabha at this time of the year has changed its feature over recent years.

It seems to be fusion of the classical and the new, some innovation and some zing too.

This year the fest is from June 29 to July 2 at Dr. Nalli Gana Vihar, T. Nagar, Chennai.

Musicians Anil Srinivasan, R.P. Shravan, Saindhavi and Anand Aravindakshan will come together for ‘Endrendrum MSV’ - a tribute to the great film music composer - on June 29 (6.30 p.m.).

The band Agam will present ‘The Dream tour - Leg 2,’ on June 30 (6.30 p.m.).

Oxygen is another classical-fusion music band and its show is on July 1 (6.30 p.m.).

The folk arts of Tamil Nadu gets a platform too. This is in collaboration with Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram on July 2 (10 a.m.). That evening (6.30 p.m.), Unison of Rajalakshmi Institutions will present ‘Carnatic Out-of-the-Box’.
