Students of Prof. S. R. Janakiraman, Carnatic music scholar and artiste (d.o.b. 12.7.1928) have organised a grand celebration on his attaining 90 years of age. This event is at Raga Sudha Hall on January 18 at 5 pm.
R. Vasumathi, Director, Doordarsham - Chennai kendra will be the chief guest.
The other invitees are N. Murali (The Music Academy), N. V. Subramabiam (Saraswathi Vaggeyakara Trust), guru T.V. Gopalakrishnan and Dr. N. Ramanathsn, musicologist.
10 students of Janakiraman will render one song each. This includes performing artistes like Unnikrishnan, Sriram Paraauram and Anuradha Sriram and Toronto brothers.
Students of the Annamacharya projects, Meenalochani, Gaga Ramachandran and a few others will also be taking part.
The programme is organised by K.H. Mangala, a long time student who has accompanied Prof. SRJ in some of his concerts.
