Platform for young dancers; the Mangalore experiment

Yuva Nrityotsava is a Bharatanatyam dance festival to be held in the west coast town of Mangalore which will provide a stage to young dancers in this region.

The event is organized by Kavya Mahesh and Meha Shetty, in association with Nrityaangan, Mangaluru and is to be held on 5th August, 2017, 5:30 p.m. onwards, at Don Bosco Hall, Balmatta, Mangaluru.

This event brings together young, budding performers who long for opportunities to showcase their talents - they are from 11 different Indian classical dance institutes in and around Mangaluru. The nineteen participants will perform solo and duet dance sequences.  This is the first crowd-funded dance event happening in Mangaluru.

Being students of dance themselves, Kavya and Meha have both experienced the challenge of not having enough performance opportunities. Now they have put their hands together to provide a platform for aspiring dancers to unveil their talent.

The event has been curated for the young dance fraternity to express themselves as performers and exhibit their talent. This event intends to cater to enriching the youth and to connect the younger generation of dance students from the city and around. The objectives of this occasion include developing individuality among young dancers, promoting arts, engaging the local community in cultural pursuit, and inspiring blossoming performers to pursue their interests.

The programme will be inaugurated by Shreedevi Anil, a renowned social activist. Dancer and guru Radhika Shetty, director of Nrityaangan, Mangaluru is lending her support too.
