A workshop on the Natya Shastra covering all the 36 chapters will be held in Chennai in July 2012.

It is hosted by Pappus Academi and Cultural Trust and ABHAI, the Association of Bharatanatyam Dancers of India.

Dr. Pappu Venugopala Rao will lead the workshop.

Dr. Rao is Secretary, The Music Academy, Madras, Member of Sagit Natak Akademi , New Delhi, Member of the Academic Council, Kalakshetra, Visiting Professor, University of Hyderabad and Coordinator, Nadaneerajanam, SVBC TTD.

This is said to be the first ever such workshop since it covers all 36 chapters.

The workshop is from July 9 – 14, 0900 -1230 everyday

The venue: TAG CENTRE, TTK Road, Alwarpet, Chennai 600 018

Participants will also get free the full Sanskrit text of Natya Sastra PDF, the 4 volumes of Natya Sastra of M M Ghosh with English transliteration, translation and Abhinavagupta’s commentary as PDF and the Abhinaya Darpana English translation of MM Ghosh as PDF.

Participants should bring a 4GB flash drive, pen and note book.
