A celebrated choreographer and master teacher known to create magic with his knowledge, Natyacharya guru K. Kalyanasundaram celebrates his 80th birthday on March 1st 2012 .
On this occasion Sri Rajarajeshwari Bharatha Natya Kala Mandir, one of the premier dance institutions imparting training in classical Bharathanatyam in Mumbai since 1945, will pay a tribute to the renowned master.
The celebration entails a dance presentation by Viji Prakash which will be performed by her daughter and disciple Mythili Prakash. The performance will include specially choreographed items taught by the guru to Viji Prakash that will showcase one of the only living traditions of Nattuvanar. This will be followed by a film called ‘The Legacy of the Thanjavur Parampara’ narrating a saga of eight generations spread over 300 years.
The event is to be held at Shanmukananda Hall and is open to all. The invitation passes will be available from Monday, 20th February 2012 at Rhythm house, Sri Shanmukhananda and Sri Rajarajeswari, in Mumbai.
