Chennai-based dancer Lakshmi Viswanathan continues to focus on what she calls the 'Celebrating Thanjavur' series of talks, shows and productions.
Started in mid 2010 in line with the celebration of 1000 years of the Brihadeswara Temple in Thanjavur, Lakshmi had two events in late December 2010.
At Kalakshetra she spoke on “Essence of Tanjore Quartet” - this was a lecture/demonstration
At Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, her lec-dem was on “Dance legacy of Thanjavur”- Composers other than Tanjore Quartet.
2 more events were slated for Jan.2011.
On January 9, at Krishna Gana Sabha - Visuals, Talk show, demonstration and film clips on Celebrating Thanjavur. This show included pictures of Brihadeeswara temple, Odhuvar music, lecture on Raja Raja’s nurturing of Tamil, dance tribute to Brihadeeswara, and Sivaji Ganesan’s depiction of Raja Raja, the great king.
On January 13, at 6.30pm at The Sivakami Pethachi hall in Alwarpet, she presents a dance feature in which the highlights are - Nandanar Charitram by Goplakrishna Bharathi and Tamil compositions of the Thanjavur kingdom.
