Vocalist Vasumathi Badrinathan to tour Europe

 

Dr. Vasumathi Badrinathan, Carnatic vocalist of Mumbai has been invited to participate and represent India at the prestigious 3rd International Forum of Francophony to be held between Oct. 7 and 23 in Europe.

This event brings together intellectuals, thinkers and artistes from 37 different nations, uniting them through the common thread of French language and ten select French words around which the participants will be showcasing their art and thought.

The itinerary for the Forum will move through different towns in France, Italy and Switzerland and the closing ceremony will be held in the Swiss town of Montreux.

During this event, Vasumathi Badrinathan will be speaking at discussions, round tables, participating in live connects with audience and will conduct workshops.

She will also collaborate with Mimi Barthelemy, a well known Haitian singer and story teller in a series of shows that promise to be a cross-cultural blend of two distinctly profound cultural heritages.

In keeping with the ten words of the event, Dr. Vasumathi Badrinathan will present a music based piece that she has specially conceived for this tour, entitled 'Au-delà de la parole: l'expression' or Beyond Words : Expressions.

This event is co-hosted by leading cultural bodies along with the French and Swiss governments and will coincide with the important global political event that reunites heads of state from all European and non European Francophone nations of the world- the World Summit of Francophony in Montreux.
