Celebrating 80 years of maestro Lalgudi Jayaraman

Violin maestro Lalgudi Jayaraman, a legend of Carnatic music known throughout the world turns 80 this year. His family, sishyas and well wishers have plans to celebrate this occasion with a two day commemorating event.

The two day commemoration events are to be held at The Music Academy, Chennai. The highlights on September 18 are releasing of the CD “Raga Rasa” composed by Lalgudi GJR Krishnan and Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi by Governor of Tamil Nadu and a live orchestral presentation comprising 45 artistes on stage presenting compositions of Lalgudi Jayaraman and from the CD ‘Raga Rasa’

The highlights on September 19 are CD release of ‘Lalgudi Patantharam’, DVD release of ‘Bodhakam’ – a lec-dem by Lalgudi Jayaraman, preview of documentary film on Lalgudi Jayaraman and musical performances by students of Lalgudi Jayaraman including senior disciples, Bombay Jaishri and Vishaka Hari.

The CD titled ‘Fourmost’, an archival collection of rare renditions of the legendary artiste will also be released.

Admission to the event is by invitation and free passes are available at Landmark & Odyssey stores in Chennai.
