A one-day workshop on 'This Business of Music' is planned on 27th August 2010 at Prof. MRD Auditorium, PES Institute of Technology, Ring Road, Banashankari 3rd Stage, Bangalore 560085

The Creativity & Innovation Platform of Karnataka (CIPK), PES Institute of Technology (PESIT) and Visvesvaraya Technological University are hosting this as part of their series of 'Innovation Days'.

The workshop brings together the music, its recording and storage, distribution and marketing, management, and its actors: the musician, the listener and admirer and the business person. Like earlier CIPK events, this is a free and open event with prior registration.

The workshop aims to create and demonstrate innovative technology in digitization, signal processing and mixing of music to enable novelties such as creative visualization of music and distributed live performance of a music concert.

While interspersing technical demonstrations with live performances of high-quality renderings in South and North Indian classical as well as modern fusion music, the programme will also cover the business aspects of music: using Web-based technologies to market music and deliver custom musical offerings live to individual homes.

The workshop will also demonstrate innovative technology solutions for processing and distributing music using electronic and computer equipment developed under expert guidance by a group of students from PESIT and other engineering colleges.

This event is expected to be of interest and value to technologists, academicians and technocrats in electronics engineering and ICT, to musicians and to entrepreneurs and business leaders in the music industry.
