Chennai-based Sri Krishna Gana Sabha is celebrating its 55th Gokulashtami Sangeetha Utsavam (August to October 2010) and on the inaugural day – 7th August 2010 at 6 p.m., the ‘Sangeetha Choodamani’ award will be conferred on vocalist S. Sowmya and ‘Acharya Choodamani’ award on Prof. (Dr.) Radha Venkatachalam.

The awards carry a purse of Rs.1,00,000 & Rs.50,000 respectively with a gold medal and a birudhu patra each.

Former Chief-Election-Commissioner T. S. Krishnamurthy inaugurates the festival and confers the awards on the artistes.

Prof. T. R. Subramanyam will felicitate Sowmya and Dr. V. V. Srivatsa will felicitate Radha Venkatachalam.

This will be followed by a fusion concert by Dr. M. Narmadha. This Utsavam is dedicated to the memory of late P. Obul Reddy and Gnanamba.

Concerts will be held at the sabha's hall every day.
