IDA, Chennai silver jubilee three-day dance fest in August
 

IDA is a non-profit world organization founded to promote goodwill and understanding between dancers. It has it head quarters in New York, USA and has 32 branches all over the world.

Its Madras chapter was started by Leela Sekhar in 1986. Radhika Shurajit and Revathi Ramachandran are the Advisory Council Members with Leela Sekhar as the Chairman.

Every year IDA has been conducting its festival for 2 days with more than 100 dancers performing together.

This year the IDA is celebrating its 25th anniversary and hosting the International Dance Week on the 5th, 6th and 7th August 2010 at the Narada Gana Sabha hall, Chennai in association with the sabha, with assistance from Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi.

Vyjayanthimala Bali will preside over the celebrations on 5th August at 6 pm and Jayant Kastaur Secretary, Sangeet Natak Akademi will inaugurate the festival
This years festival 'Natya Sangamam' will feature twenty dance groups - six on the first day and seven each day on the next 2 days.

Stalwarts in the classical dance form - Vyjayanthimala Bali, Padma Subrahmanyam, Chitra Visweswaran, Sudharani Raghupathy, Shantha & Dhananjayan, Lakshmi Vishwanathan, C. V. Chandrasekhar, Vasanthalakshmi & Narasimhachari and Manju Bhargavi are performing.

Also on stage will be Geetha Chandran (New Delhi), Vineet, Ananda Shankar Jayant (Hyderabad), Srinidhi Chidambaram, Sheejith Krishna, Priyadarshini Govind, Divya Kasturi, Manjulika Sen, students of Sarasalaya & of Jayashree Rajagopal (Mumbai)
