The Music Academy in Chennai has floated the Advanced School of Carnatic Music on its campus. Admissions are now open for Advance Diploma in Carnatic music ( vocal ) being introduced from this year.

Duration - 4 years under a semester system, from mid July - November end and from mid January - May end

Classes will be held from Monday to Saturday, 10 am - 3.30 pm

Eligibility : Applicants should have minimum educational qualification of Plus Two (successfully completed ). Age : between 18 and 30. They should be able to sing Manodharma Sangita.

Each applicant must send their bio-data accompanied by an audio CD containing half an hour of recent recording (not more than 3 months old ) that includes the 'manodharma' element

Shortlisted applicants will be called for an interview by the Academic Council.

Only ten seats are available.

Last date for receiving applications : July 15, 2010. Commencement of classes : August 2, 2010

Eminent musicians will also periodically conduct classes as visiting faculty
