80th birthday celebrations of
clarinet maestro A. K. C. Natarajan

 

A traditional 2 day celebration of Shathabhishekam (80th birthday) of clarinet vidwan A. K. C. Natarajan is being hosted by his children and disciples on May 26 and 27 in Tiruchi, Tamil Nadu.

On the eve of his birthday, pujas will be held with chanting of vedas. From 5 pm onwards, musicians will be pay their salutations to the maestro through their music performances.

Malaikottai T.K.R. Sivakumar & T.K.R. Vijayakumar. Tirukarukavur T.D.S. Gourishankar& T.D.S. Balashankar, Thirumeignanam brothers T.K.R. Iyyappan & T.K.R. Meenakshisundaram, Tirukarukavur T.K. Ramanan and T.K. Saravanan, Mannargudi M.S.K. Sankaranarayanan and M.S.K. Venkatesan, Tirukoilur T. S. E. Babu abd T. S. A. Kumar, Sheik Mahaboob Subhani & Kalishabi Mahaboob and Tirupati Satyanarayana are among the nadaswaram artistes of the evening.

At 9 pm that day senior vocalist Madurai T. N. Seshagopalan will present his music performance.

On May 27, the concerts and celebrations early in the monring will begin with Injikudy E. M. Subramaniam's nadaswaram, followed by Bangalore M. Kothandaraman & M. Lakshmanan, Pinnaimanagar K.M. Dakshinamurthy & K.M. Uthrapathy, Tirupampuram T.K.S. Swaminathan & T.K.S. Meenakshisundarm.

A grand nadaswaram recital will be on that day from 10 am by Madurai M.P.N. Ponnusamy with Tiruvalaputhur T.A. Kaliamurthy among the special Tavil vidwans.

The function will be held at Tiruchi District Welfare Committee Kalaignar Kalyana Mandapam, Trichy
