Prakriti Foundation presented the 'Festival of Sacred Music' at Thiruvaiyaru for the first time in the year 2009. Eminent artistes like Bombay Jayashri, Jayanthi Kumaresh and the Sikkil Sisters performed at the festival.
The fest was received well by the local rasikas and visiting media.
The Festival is scheduled as an annual event on our calendar and our aim is to restore the pride of this music centre that existed at the time of Saint Thyagaraja, and showcase it for the NRIs, tourists, as well as the local people, says Ranvir Shah of Prakriti.
" We have plans to bring Musicians performing sacred music from all parts of India and abroad in future.," he adds.
The 2010 edition of the festival is on 26th, 27th and 28th February at Thiruvaiyaru. The venues are different and unique for each evening but are located in the town which is about 13 kms from Thanjavur.
