A wellknwon vocalist and teacher, Dr. R. Prabhakar Varma will be remembered on November 8 at Mavelikkara in Kerala on November 8 to mark his first death anniversary.

Prof. Varma was Principal of the famed Swati Tirunal Music College in Trivandrum, Kerala and a senior vocalist. He also taught at the RLV Music College in Tripunithara, Kerala. His well wishers have got up this event in his hometown, which is near Alleppey.

There will recitals through the day by junior artistes and a formal function will be held in the evening. The finale is a kutcheri by Mavelikkara P. Subramaniam.

The event has been organised by the Sri Guruvayurappan Trust and the music school that it runs here. About 200 children learn voval and violin here, says vice president Hari Namboodri.
