Nrithyakshethra Dance Academy, Chennai, is presenting “Atula Tala Shanmarga Yagnam”,
a full Bharathanatyam repertoire in six rare talams, commemorating its Pearl Jubilee
anniversary this November.
The items starting from the traditional pushpanjali to the thillana for this ambitious
programme have been conceptualised, written and composed by guru Madurai R.
Muralidaran.
The six talams in which the margams are based on are: Sankeerana Matyam (20 Aksharas),
Tisra Dhruvam (11 Aksharas), Kanda Jempa (8 Aksharas), Kanda Thruputa (9 Aksharas),
Misra Ekam (7 Aksharas), Misra Roopakam (9 Aksharas)
This series has been choreographed by Muralidaran and Chithra Muralidaran, and
alongside will be his disciples. The recitals are on from November 10.
Nrithyakshethra is also presenting a new production “Silapathigaram”, as a part of its
celebrations.
The production will feature prominent Bharatanatyam artistes Parvathy Ravighantasala,
Uma Muralikrishna, Priya Muralee, Kavitha Ramu, Shivakumar, Binesh Mahadevan and
Padmalakshmi Suresh along with Artistic Directors Madurai.R.Muralidaran and Chithra
Muralidaran.
The funds collected from the programme will go towards the benefit of ‘Little Drops’, an
organization for underprivileged children, women and elderly.
