Sri Rama Bhaktha Jana Samaj's music fest
Sri Rama Bhaktha Jana Samaj, K K Nagar has scheduled its 13th Annual Music Festival from Dec 19, 2009 to Jan 4, 2010.
The concerts will be held at PSBB School, K K Nagar.
E S L Narasimhan, Governor of Chattisgarh, will inaugurate the fest on Dec 19 at 6 pm
and will confer the 'Sangeetha Maamani' title on Carnatic vocalist Neyveli Santhanagopalan - this will be followed by his concert.

neighbourhood located in the western part of the city. The Samaj serves rasikas in this region and the suburbs around it.
Charulatha's Isai Payanam concert on 19th December
The Isai Payanam Trust is holding vocalist Charulatha Mani's Isai Payanam special concert on
19th December morning 10 am at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Main Hall, Mylapore.
She will be accompanied by B. Anantakrishnan on the violin and S. J. Arjun Ganesh on the mridangam.
Charulatha has made the Isai Payanam series a popular one.
She presents a melange of vintage film songs and well known classical songs based on one raga
or two and ina Harikatha typestyle rols out her performance.
She has also prodiced DVDs of this series.
Brahma Gana Sabha's Music and Dance Fest
Brahma Gana Sabha will hold its annual arts fest at Sivagami Petachi Auditorium which is
located in the M. Ct. M. School campus in Alwarpet.
The music fest begins on Dec.3 and goes on till Dec.31.
Thereafter, is the dance fest which goes on till Jan.17.
Kartik Fine Arts hosts lec-dem/performances on classical dance
Every 'season' Kartik Fine Arts hosts a seminar / lec-dem on classical dance. It is called Natya Darshan.
This year, it opens on Dec.26 morning at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and ends on Dec.28.
Senior dancers Narasimhachari and his wife and Lakshmi Vishwanathan will be honoured.
Lec-dems are by Mythili Prakash, Dr. Padma Subramaniam and Mahathi, Dr. Chitra Madhavan and Kausalya Srinivasan,
Shobana Chandrakumar, Sashdhar Acharya, Sharadi Saikia (on Chattriya) and Methik Devika.
There are also performances every evening - by Kerala Kalamandalam troupe, Arushi Mudgal,
Chitra Visweswaran, Darshana Zaveri and troupe and guru Birju Maharaj.

'Sampradaya' to hosts interaction between masters and rasikas, musicians
Sampradaya in Chennai focuses on documentation of everything to do with music, especially Carnatic music.
Ever since T. M. Krishna took charge of it, it has floated an event called Samvada and its goal is to create a public forum where the great masters share with students, other musicians and the art lovers their musical journey.
In order to make the conversation focused, in depth and revealing the hosts invite some of the top musicians of today to hold the conversation with these masters. There is also an interactive event with the audience.

Kalakshetra's Fest from Dec.20
Kalakshetra is to host its 'December season' fest from Dec.20 to Jan.5, 2010 at its campus in south Chennai.
The fest is planned in three parts - the famed dance drama series of Kalakshetra from Dec.20 to 25, a North Indian Music Fest in association with the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Delhi and a Carnatic Music and Classical Dance Fest from Jan 1 to 5 which includes a Kathakali performance.
All the shows are ticketed and tickets can even be bought online at the Kalakshetra web site - www.kalakshetra.in. Students can avail of concessional rates.

Sri Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha's Fest
Sri Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha will be celebrating its 30th Isai, Iyal Nataka Vizha (annual Music Festival) between 9th and 31st December 2009.
Poojya Sri Dayananda Saraswathi inaugurates the festival on 09-12-2009. On the occasion artistes Trichur V.Ramachandran (vocalist), U. Shrinivas (mandolin artiste), Tiruvarur Bakthavatsalam (mrudangist), Rajeswari Sainath (dance)r and Koothapiran (theatre artiste) will be conferred with the Birudhu “VANI KALA SUDHAKARA” and also presented with a cash award.
The Music Academy's Academic, Music and Dance Fest
The Music Academy will host its 83rd Annual Conference and Concerts from Dec.13 to Jan.1, 2010.
World chess champ V. Anand is scheduled to open the fest while Union minister P. Chidambaram will preside over the 'sadas' on the closing evening.
Vidwan Valayapatti A R Subramaniam who is to be decorated with the 'Sangita Kalanidhi' title will preside over the conference.
Five concerts are held every day featuring junior, sub senior and seniors. The surprise of the fest is the elevation of talented youngster Kunnakudy M. Balamuralikrishna to the top slot.

Awards of Kartik Fine Arts
Kartik Fine Arts has announced the recipients of titles and awards during their 35th art festival which will be held at Narada Gana Sabha from Dec 1 2009 to January 1 2010.
Isai Peroli will be awarded to R. K. Shriramkumar, 'Nadana Mamani' to Mythily Prakash, Tamil Isai Vendar goes to Karaikudi R. Mani, Isai Chudar to Ranjani (Hebbar) Guruprasad and Natya Chudar to Vaishnavi Sainath.
Titles of Narada Gana Sabha
Narada Gana Sabha will have its annual music fest from December 13 and it will be opened by former CEC, N. Gopalaswami.
Titles will be presented to violin vidwan M. S. Gopalakrishnan and veena vidushi Dr. R. S. Jayalakshmi on the opening evening of the fest.
Concerts are held at the sabha's hall in Alwarpet.
Saint Thiagaraja Aradhana in Thiruvaiyaru; Jan 2010
The 2010 aradhana will begin on Jan.2 and go on till Jan.6. Bahula panchami falls on Jan.5, the day the saint composer is said to have attained mukti. On that day, artistes join in to sing the famed Pancharatna kritis at the samadhi in the morning.
Concerts, as tributes are held from 7 am to late at night on all the days.
