Professor Mysore V. Ramarathnam was a very respected scholar of Carnatic music and connosieur of it. He made many contributions at academic meets on music, was a composer and writer and was decorated with a few titles. He was the first principal of the University College of Music and Dance, Mysore.
He passed away in 2008.
Now his family, friends and admirers have got up a commemorative event in Mysore to celebrate his work.
The event is to be held on Nov.7 at the Bidaram Krishanappa Prasanna Sitarama Mandira, Narayanasastry Road, Mysore. His last book titled ' Rasa Raja Manjari' on Kshetragna’s Padams & Javalis wil be released at this event.
Music patron 'Cleveland' V V Sundaram of Chennai is the chief guest. His Holiness Swami Sri. Muktidananda of the Sri Ramakrishna Mutt, Mysore will also be present.
The event opens with a flute concert by Professor Dr. C.A. Sridhar, Professor of Music, University of Mysore, accompanied by N.C. Madhav - violin, Salem K. Srinivas - mridangam, V. Ramesh - morching and Ramanujam on the ghatam.
The evening's big concert is by 'Sangeetha Kalanidhi' M. Chandrashekaran & Bharathi Gopalakrishnan on the violin accompanied by Guruvayur Dorai on the mridangam.
