The Executive Committee of The Music Academy has unanimously chosen thavil maestro Valayapatti A. R. Subramaniam to preside over the 83rd annual conference of The Music Academy to be held from December 15 to January 1, 2010.
He will be confered the 'Sangita Kalanidhi' at the Sadas to be held on January 1, 2010.

The Committee has also announced the awards to be given to other muscians - Sangita Kala Acharya Award goes to Trivandrum R. Venkataraman (veena vidwan) and N. S Jayalakshmi (dance guru). TTK awards to Tiruchi R . Thayumanavan (Konnakkol exponent) and
Akela Mallikarjuna Sharma (violinist and musciologist) and Musciologist award to B. M. Sundaram. The awards will be given away at the Sadas.
