Remembering MLV

Dr. MLV Rasikar Mandran in Chennai celebrated the 80th birthday of this great artiste with a two-day event in the city.

The first day featured an inaugural address by N. Murali, President, The Music Academy and a concert by violinists A Kanyakumari, Embar Kannan and V. Sanjeev.

All the sishyas of MLV who could make it to the function were felicitated.

On the grander Day Two, Shobana Ramesh presented a dance production based on the evergreen melodies of MLV.

There were a string of speeches by guests which included DMK M. P. Kanimozhi (even as the rain came down that July 4 evening), a screening of select photos of MLV and her life ( Sudha Raghunathan plans a docu-film on MLV to be released later this year) and the finale was a concert by Sudha herself.

Held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, the hall was packed and overflowing on Day Two.

The photo gallery, featuring photos taken by R. Saravanan, gives you a feel of the event.
