Bangalore’s very own and well known cultural organization ‘Ananya’ recently hosted ‘Nritya Chilume’,
a platform for young performing artistes - children under 15 years. It was held at the Seva Sadan hall in Malleswaram, Bangalore.
A clouded Saturday evening did not deter the spirit of neither these little ones nor the invited audience.
Four artistes took to stage one after the other in a brisk and refreshing order.
Commencing the programme was Sulekha, a 10th grade student at National Public School undergoing tutelage under Minal Prabhu.
A soothing Thodayam was followed by a Chatushra Alaripu setting a flow for the rest of the items.
Through a Shiva Krithi ‘Kalai Thuki’, Sulekha exhibited grip over her footwork and a few karanas as well.
Ending with a colourful devaranama (Aada Hoda Makkalu), she brought out the child in her in a story of Krishna complaining to his mother.
Following next were twin sisters S. D. Poorna Datta and Pruthvi Datta studying 7th grade at Martin Luthers School.
Their Alaripu and Jathiswaram confirmed that they had carefully imbibed every move of their teacher Suma Nagesh hoped to present and they did so with utter innocence.
‘Nadanam Aadinar’ and the Tulsidas Bhajan caught the attention of the rasikas. The sisters showed that they had had some good practice together.
A Kuchipudi performance came as a welcome change presented by Deeksha Ramesh.
Supported by powerful music, she started with a Ganesha Vandana and a Swarajathi displaying good techniques of rhythm. In an authentic Shabdam, she conveyed the story of Ramayana and ended with a fast paced foot tapping Naandi Shloka.
Deeksha studying 7th grade at Sri Vani Education Centre did justice to her training under Vyjayanthi Kashi.
The final recital for the day was by Anagha Gowri, daughter and disciple of dance couple Sridhar and Anuradha Sridhar. Anagha presented an Alaripu, a Shiva Panchakshara Stotra and a Thillana. Her recital stood out for her confidence, maturity and neat nritta and abhinaya.
Shivaranjani, a young dancer in the state shared some useful tips with the young ones - she was the chief guest.
The fest was a nice platform for Bangalore budding dancers.
