Vocalist Bhushani Kalyanaraman has taken the lead to remember her guru and late husband Tanjore S. Kalyanaraman whom many regard as an exceptionally gifted Carnatic musician.

Over the years, Bhushani and her band of supporters have hosted an annual event to commemorate this artiste. Archiving his music and work and producing a documentary has been part of this effort.

This year, Shanmukapriya, an arts organisation in Chennai and the Tanjore S. Kalyanaraman Trust celebrated the birth anniversary of Kalyanaraman on June 2.

The event included the presentation of the SKR Award of Excellence to senior violinist A. Kanyakumari, release of audio CD, the screening of a documentary and a vocal concert by sisters Ranjani and Gayathri.
