South Indian Cultural Association (SICA), the leading cultural association of Hyderabad is organising a fitting finale to its year-long golden jubilee celebrations.
The Association is holding a grand three day Festival of Music and Dance on May 26, 27 and 28 daily at 6.15 pm at Ravindra Bharathi, Hyderabad.
On this historic occasion, SICA has decided to confer on Bombay Jayashri, eminent Carnatic vocalist, the title of 'Sangeetha Saraswathi'.
This ceremoney will be followed by her music recital (on May 26). N. Murali, Managing Director, The Hindu,and President, The Music Academy, Chennai, will inaugurate the festival and confer the title on Jayashri.
On May 27, there will be a unique Carnatic-Hindustani vocal jugal bandhi, by the famous duo Anuradha Sriram and Sriram Parasuram. On May28, dancer and actress Shobana will present a Bharatha Natyam recital.
Admission to the programmes will be free to its members, while for others, it will be by daily donor passes available at the venue.
