Thyagaraja Aradhana Celebrated in Tezu, Arunachal Pradesh
Contributed by S.Mundayoor

Thyagaraja Aradhana, the annual musical obeisance to Saint Thyagaraja, was celebrated with great fervour at the Thyagaraja Centre for Music & Fine Arts, Tezu on Jan 25. 2009.

The musical chanting was led by Smt. Yealiang Tamblu, the music teacher of the Thyagaraja Centre at Tezu, along with her students. Several parents and music lovers of the town also joined, rendering the chantings. A special item was a solo recital of a Thyagaraja keertana by Sreekumaran Pillai, a local school teacher.

It is perhaps for the first time that the Thyagaraja Aradhana is being organised in Arunachal Pradesh.

The celebrations were held at the Thyagaraja Centre for Music & Fine Arts, a unit of the Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra, (HQ:B.R.Hills, Karnataka)

The centre wishes to have a vioilinist and a mridangist as they could not find one in the Assam - Arunachal Pradesh region.
