Once in a while Carnatic vocalist Sudha Ragunathan takes a break from her busy concert tours, recordings and practise sessions to look elsewhere.
To look at the less fortunate people around us.

That is why she runs the Samudhaaya Foundation from her home in Mylapore, Chennai.

Sudha recently organised an event at which Congress (I) leader S M Krishna was the chief guest.

At this function, she arranged for funds to given to facilitate heart surgeries of about 25 children and also to support a home for mentally challenged people.

Sudha says that over the last few years, her well wishers who are aware of Samudhaaya have made handsome donations too. This is how she is able to reach out in good measure to some NGOs.

She had tried to raise funds by hosting cultural events but found that it did not bear great fruit and so, given up that path of fund raising.
