Hyderabad-based Kuchipudi dancer Srividya Angara was recently given the title 'Nritya Kinnera' by Dr. C. Narayana Reddy, recipient of the renowned Gyaan Kala Peeth award and Dinesh Kumar Tiwari, state president for Shiv Sena.
The felicitation ceremony was preceded by a dance programme. The event was held on July 16.
The programme started with an invocation to Ganesha, with the Kasinadha Sabdam, set to Nata raga. Through Thyagaraja's Sambho Mahadeva in Pantuvarali and Jagadanandakaaraka in Nata ragas respectively, Srividya displayed commendable Nritya, while her forte in Abhinaya was showcased in the Sarangapani padam Sogasukada set to Sahana.
A fast-paced Palayamam Rukmini naayaka, a Ramadas keertana in the Ameer Kalyani raga and Narayana Teertha's tarangam Jaya jaya Durge in Shanmukhapriya raga proved a fitting end to the performance.
