IDA is a non-profit international organization founded to promote goodwill and understanding between dancers.
It has 32 branches all over the world and its Madras Chapter was started by Leela Sekhar in 1986.
Radhika Shurajit and Revathi Ramachandran are the council members with Leela Sekhar as the Chairman.
Every year IDA has been conducting its festival for 2 days with more than 100 dancers sharing and performing together.
This year the IDA is celebrating its 23rd anniversary on July 24 and 25 at the Naradha Gana Sabha, in association with the Sabha.
Twelve dance groups, six on each day are performing each day. The programme is themed “Vande Guru Parampara”. Two gurus - Adyar K. Lakshman and Ranganayaki Jayaraman will be honoured on July 24. Nalli N. Kuppuswamy Chetty, a patron of the arts will preside and A. R. Natarajan will be the guest of honour.
The participating dance groups are led by Uma Muralikrishna, Rajeswari Sainath, Urmila Satyanarayana, Lavanya Sankar, Ramya Ramnarayan, Binesh Mahadevan, Padma Murali, Hari and Chetna, Prakriti Bhaskar, Kavitha Ramu, Pramila Ramesh and Parvati Ravi Ghantasala.
Admit cards available at auditorium from July 18 onwards, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
