Sri Krishna Gana Sabha hosts special fest in Chennai

The well known Sri Krishna Gana Sabha in Chennai is presenting a special arts fest in memory of the late R. Yagnaraman who was a founder-member and its secretary for over 50 years. The fest is held in connection with his birthday.

Over a week, from June 30 evening there will be music and dance performances at the sabha (detailed scheduled is given below).

The finale, on July 6 will be a grand one.
On this day, a bronze bust of Yagnaraman will be unveiled by violin maestro Lalgudi Jayaraman. Vidwan T. N. Seshagopalan is to release a commemorative volume on Yagnaraman.

Three special awards have been instituted and they will be given to artistes on this occasion – the Yagnaraman Lifetime Achievement Award which will be given to vidwan T. H. Vinayakram and the Yagnaraman Award for Excellence which is to be given to talented young artises and this year, will be given to Carnatic vocalist S. Saketharaman and to Odissi dancers Surupa Sen and Bijayini Satpathy.
