Admissions to dance, music courses at Kalakshetra, Chennai

Kalakshetra Foundation in Chennai is now issuing forms for those seeking admission to its regular courses.
Courses are held in Bharatanatyam, vocal Carnatic music and instrumental Carnatic music.
In instrumental music, you can pursue courses in mridangam, veena, violin and flute.
The dance course runs for 4 years while the vocal and instrumental courses run for 5 years. All of them are full time courses.
Kalakshetra's office says that admission forms are now being sold at the office.
Admission forms must be submitted by May 20.
The new academic year begins in mid-June.

Part time courses

Kalakshetra Foundation also offers part time certificate courses for teenagers and adults at its campus. These are best suited for Chennai-based residents.
There is one course called 'Pallava' meant for children in the 7 to 14 years age group.
Students can choose music or dance and they will be put in groups, depending on their basic knowledge and training.
These courses are held from 4.30 p. m. to 5.30 p. m., thrice a week.
The other course is on 'krithis' and is open to people 15 years and above ( adults can also apply). This course is meant for those who have gone through the basics and want to learn more.
Classes are held from 4.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m., thrice a week.
These courses run for 4 months.
Applications are being issued now and have to be given in by May 20.
