Award for vocalist, composer Thanjavur Sankara Iyer
 
M.S. Subbulakshmi Memorial Award was awarded to senior vocalist, composer Thanjavur Sankara Iyer by Bharatiya Sangeetha Vaibhavam Trust, Chennai on Sep. 16, 2007, on the birth anniversary of the veteran musician M. S. Subbulakshmi.

The chief guests of the occasion were senior musician Prof. T. R. Subramaniam and Atmanathan, who has been a close associate of M. S. Subbulakshmi.

Prof. T.R. Subramaniam felicitated Sankara Iyer mentionaing that Iyer has been a Uttama Vaaggeyakara, who composes, notates and sings the compositions.

The event was followed by a vocal concert by Sanjay Subrahmanyan accompanied by Kumbakonam Gopinath on the violin, Arun Prakash on the mridangam and Guruprasad on the ghatam.
