Sangati Music Fest at Bangalore

This Bangalore-based Carnatic music fest may not be anywhere close to the annual December season in Chennai.
But its host, Ananya, the cultural organisation based in Bangalore's Malleswaran neighbourhood, hopes that its fest will also be a prestigious and popular one in the years to come.

The Sangati fest is unique though and it celebrates Ananya's anniversary ( it is 12 this year).
It presents talented young Carnatic musicians at concerts held at four different venues across the city on three days.
This year, the Sangati fest is scheduled from June 6 to 10.

In keeping with the tradition, on June 6, Ananya will present its two major titles to two people - percussionist T. A. S. Mani of Bangalore and musicologist Dr. T. N. Padma of Mysore.

Three young artistes will also be honoured.
They are kanjira artiste Guru Prasanna, violinist B. U. Ganesh Prasad, both well known in the kutcheri circuit, and flutist L. V. Mukund, a sishya of guru Dr. N. Ramani.

This event will take place at Seva Sadhana hall in Malleswaram.
On June 7, 8 and 9, there will be concerts at four different venues in association with different local sabhas.

Besides Ananya, the participating sabhas are BTM Culural Academy, in the BTM Layout neighbourhood, Srirama Lalit Kala Mandiram, Padmanabha Nagar and Thiagaraja Gana Sabha in Rajaji Nagar.

All these concerts are for 21/2 hours at all the venues.
"All the artistes we present have achieved vidwat in music and are the best," says Ananya's founder Raghavendra Rao.

Over the years, the Sangati fest has also presented artistes from other parts of south India.

More details can be had from Ananya at 080-23440409 (Bangalore).
