Ragalayam School of Music, Haripad in Alapuzha, plays a dominant role in promoting classical arts in this part of the state. Over the years the school has showcased many of the veterans like Chengotta Harihara Subrahmanyam, Dr. Omanakutty and many more to the place.
Krishnan Namboothiri, the founder - director of the institution, though had a number of avenues in major cities to start a music school, showed immense courage to begin the institution in a predominantly interior area of the state.
This institution triggered a major revolution in reviving the cultural heritage of this place, which was dormant for quite a while. This Shri.Krishnan Namboothiri and his crew to start a Travancore Music Society, first of this sort, in the place.
The school celebrated its 4th anniversary with a wide variety of programes spanning over 3 days from April 9th to 11th. On 9th and 10th it organised a music workshop, conducted by Dr. N. P. Ramaswamy and K. P. S. C. Chandrasekhar Master.
On 11th Adv.Babu Prasad presided the closing ceremony which was inaugrated by S.Sharat (actor). The school also presented a wide range of classical music and dance performances by the students of the school
As part of its summer classes Ragalayam school is organising music workshops and seminars to be conducted by experts, in the coming weeks.
