Tala - Nattuvangam Workshop held in Kolkata

Kolkata got a taste of intricate cross rhythmic techniques in nattuvangam and rhythmic choreography in Bharatnatyam last week.

Eminent Bharatnatyam and Mohini Attam dancer - choreographer Prakriti Bhaskar, based in Mumbai concluded the fifth module of her Nritta - Nattuvangam workshop recently.

Prakriti, the senior disciple of the Talavidwan - GuruT.S. Kadirvellu Pillai, has recently been awarded the prestigious Senior Fellowship by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India for her research work on the Aesthetics and Mathematics of Rhythm in Bharatnatam.

Senior students of Kolkata had a week-long fiesta of composing on cross-rhythmic jatis and korwais as well as learning nattuvangam.
