Sangeet Natak Akademi (SNA) has announces the awards for the first Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar, named after the late Shehnai maestro, for the year 2006.

Young artistes in the field of music, dance and theatre will be chosen for the award by the Akademi every year.
Among the awardees for the year are Carnatic vocalists T. M. Krishna, Malladi Brothers - Sriram Prasad and Ravi Kumar, mridangam artiste N. Manoj Siva and ghatam artiste S. Karthick.

Young Kathakali dancers Kalamandalam Pradeep, Kalamandalam Vinod, Bharatanatyam dancer Sheejith Krishna, Kathak dancer Prashant Shah, Manipuri dancer Shijagurumayum Nimita Devi, Odissi dancers Bijoyini Satpati, Leena Mohanty and Kuchipudi dancer Vedantam Venkata Naga Chalapathi Rao are among the awardees.
