K. S. Venkataraman, husband of the famed flautists, the Sikkil Sisters, passed away on Jan. 23.

Born on Dec. 25, 1925, he joined the Air Force at the age of 18. Later he completed his AMIE and got married to Kunjumani (eldest of Sikkil sisters), while he was in thick of the Second World War. He later married Neela.

He worked for Brittania for a long time. He provided the Sikkil sisters all the support they needed in their career and encouraged family members to take to arts.
