Teachers' College of Music celebrates platinum jubilee / Chennai
 

The platinum jubilee celebrations of Teachers' College of Music attached to the Music Academy, Chennai was inaugurated on Nov. 25.

The inauguration was followed by a music recital by the students and teachers of the college. Later there was a question and answers session with popular vocalist T. M. Krishna.

Senior musicians and teachers of the college were honoured on the occasion. B. Rajam Iyer, who served as principal of the college for 16 years, Prof. S. R. Janakiraman and Chengalpattu Ranganathan were among those honoured.

The teachers urged the students to follow their gurus closely and listen to the music of stalwarts. N. Murali, president of the Music Academy talked about the history of the college that it was formed with an intention to produce good teachers for the music department at the University of Madras.

The students performed a traditonal 'kummi' as part of the celebrations.
